Athina Esveld-Amanatidou came to Holland in 1995 to get her PhD at Wageningen University. At that time there was already a Greek dancing group active at Wageningen, joined by many Greek and other foreign students. Having had her dancing lessons at the Dora Stratou theatre in Athens among other things, Athina could join in very smoothly. Later on she became a teacher and took care of the lessons.
At that time the dancing group was part of the Greek Cultural Association, over the years the composition of the dancing group changed (almost no students anymore). The Greek Cultural Association was discontinued and on June 1st , 2009 a new dancing group was founded called Chará, under Athina's supervision.
Manolis Iskis is our visiting lecturer and takes care of the lessons twice a month.
Vasilis Arambatzakis's specialty is dances from the North of Greece. He is responsible for a workshop organised by Chará twice a year. |
